After the companies' refusal to produce documents voluntarily, subpoenas were issued and the investigation produced thousands of pages of internal records showing these companies publicly committed to emissions reductions while privately planning decades of continued fossil fuel expansion. The findings resulted in a bicameral staff report, three congressional hearings including CEO testimony, and a formal referral to the Department of Justice urging federal investigation.

I co-led the Senate Budget and Finance Committees' investigation into Donald Trump's alleged offer of sweeping regulatory rollbacks to oil executives in exchange for $1 billion in campaign contributions. The investigation documented communications between the Trump campaign and major fossil fuel companies and produced findings covered by major national outlets.

I led the Senate Budget Committee's investigation into suspected illegal coordination between major U.S. oil and gas companies and OPEC+ to restrict production and inflate consumer gas prices. The investigation involved negotiations with 18 entities and document review of industry communications.

As Senior Investigator for the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, I worked with whistleblowers from the EPA and other agencies to investigate and publicly document unlawful aspects of the Trump administration's sweeping federal funding freezes, reductions in force, and impoundment of Congressionally authorized climate funding. I helped establish the Senate Budget Committee's first known use of its subpoena power since 1991, compelling Credit Suisse—on a bipartisan basis—to release a suppressed internal report on its handling of Nazi-linked accounts during and after World War II. The investigation produced two public reports revealing nearly 100 previously undisclosed accounts and secured UBS's commitment to further investigate post-1945 Nazi ratline networks.

I drafted oversight letters to major insurers including AIG, Chubb, State Farm, and Travelers, seeking disclosures on how they evaluate climate transition risk when underwriting and investing in fossil fuel expansion. The investigation was among the first congressional inquiries to examine the insurance industry's role in accelerating the climate-driven insurability crisis facing American homeowners.

I drafted and secured 133 signatures from U.S. and EU legislators on letters urging the UNFCCC to adopt disclosure rules for fossil fuel political influence at international climate negotiations. The advocacy contributed directly to the UNFCCC's adoption of voluntary affiliation disclosure requirements for COP participants.

I led the House Oversight Committee's investigation into decades of regulatory delay on leaded aviation fuel, organizing a congressional hearing on health harms to communities near the roughly 20,000 general aviation airports across the U.S. The investigation brought awareness and coverage that contributed to the FAA's expedited approval of the first unleaded fuel for piston-engine aircraft.
